DAMN Riders - No rules, Just ride!

Even turning back we finished off a great day.

Easy dirt roads were great at the end when you are tired.

At this point most of the group went home. Matt and Pablo parked their 2T bikes and pulled out XR650Ls (I rode my Beta 390 for the whole trip). Time for the Black Hills BDR.

The first day was cold and wet. For some stupid reason I failed to bring my hippo hands, a neck warmer, or another base layer. I was pretty DAMN miserable for a few parts of the day. Wet/hands and freezing.


I had two holes in my tire way too close together. Pablo helped me plug them. (Rode several hundred more miles like that) Matt watched from a old mining car. Imagine riding one of those down into the mines to go to work.

After lunch we had a little bit of sun.

But then it started raining again…. Was a long dirt road section that was incredibly slick. One of us crashed on a downhill. I didnt get a pic bc of the rain. Would have been really tough if we were on big bikes.



I would have loved to show a pic of the amazing view from top of this mountain. But we couldnt see it either…

We decided to go off route a little. Took a detour into WY and stayed in a hotel in the small town of Sundance. Found some really cool local history. As in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid!!! Famous Wild West Outlaws

Next morning weather was great. We headed over to Devil’s Tower National Monument.

Then back to Black Hills and back on track. This day’s section of the bdr was really spectacular. My pics dont do it justice.

More great riding

This last day of the bdr was still lots of fun.
This was part of the hero section up to top of Bear Mt. Nasty muddy slick trails at the bottom. As the trail climbed it got pretty rocky. I would not have wanted to do it on a big bike.

This was about the only fire tower on trip that we could go up to see the view. This one was manned. The guy was very nice and chatted with us a little.
