It was freaking cold. There were quite a few, but under jackets most of the day.

You can't see the one I'm wearing...as I was the "team" photographer, apparently!

I had a great shot, up close, where you could see the hole in his leg, but the censorship bots at imageshack.com wouldn't let me post it! :deal:

Yea...I'd definitely recommend wearing a "wind breaker" because it was cold.

I have my trusty steed ready for next weekend! Oil & filters changed, new bars, new clutch lever, air filter cleaned.

I have a new GoPro Hero3 (Black Edition) with remote control to capture all the DAMN exciting moments :brows:

All that is left is to get a new helmet. Checked the old one and the insides are falling out, plus the mold was THICK! :barf:

When we came back for lunch Billygoat noticed some oil on my boot. Upon examination of the bike, sure enough some thing had driven the shifter through the side case and opened up about an inch and a half crack. The crazy thing is I have no idea how it happened. There was one time I do remember feeling a tree kinda graze my boot as I went by a little too close; I guess some how the shifter took the impact and what I felt on my boot was the secondary blow. I just don't know, I am sure I never dropped it all day. Luckily the dip stick still showed oil on it so I didn't do any lasting damage to the engine after riding it like this all morning.

I am trying to decide rather to JB weld it or spend the $130 for a new side case. Part of the case on one side of the cracj is kinda pushed in maybe 1/8th of an inch so I am not sure how close it could be to anything inside that is important (like the stator for example) since I have never been inside the case on this bike. I know JB Weld is good stuff but it will nag at me every time I see it; I will probably spend the coin..

No brainer, replace it and patch what you have for a spare.
You drive 30 hours west and have the case let go I can only imagine how hard you would be kicking your own ass.
