Unless, I misunderstood. This is a strom ride. Its a dualsport ride but really doesn't need knobbies.

Long Run - off Hopkins Gap is a dirt road - more Dual Sport than Strom - not that Strom couldn't do it - Jknowledge used to take his vstrom 1000 all kinds of places. I have only ridden a small bit - but I am NOT taking my ktm990adventure on it - I would much rather brave it on the XR.

I know nothing about Public Road 44 - it seems to parallel some railroad tracks - it might be very easy on a big trailie - ktm990, strom, etc... However, time dependent there looks to be some good detours and whatknot... Personally, I would rather take the XR and deal with it on standard roads to get to Wv an be a little bit comfortable for short spurts, than get REAL uncomfortable if a dirt road tightens on a big bike... I personally don't plan or want to have to hit highway slab speeds on the XR (only way I might is if we get caught in NASTY rain).. FWIW - I have done the street ride on the drzsm and it wasn't a problem... As for motard/Dual Sport - I don't know that I would want to run race take offs, but if you running something that has some dirt capability (distanzia/scorpions) I would bet they would be ok.. However, I have never done it before...

edit -for Ken - for the ride out :) http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&m ... 1204171362

Read my lips - it has street tires on it - ie roadmasters as in NO offroad capability ie more for this ... I would rather have the lighter bike for this

SWWWWWWEEET.. saved for future use .... U THE MAN!!

FWIW - the ride I picked is somewhat abbreviated from my original route - there is ALLOT more paved roads from franklin to the campground - but it's good fun roads for the most part... To be honest, if I still had a motard - I would take it - looks to be almost a perfect combination of roads and dirt..

The big issue is time... Google Maps I think marks that loop approx around 4 hours give or take... It lies allot - especially on back roads. However, getting to Brandywine or Frankin isn't a hour trip either, it going to take some time to get there.. Figure if everyone leave from Frederick at 8/9 - we should be to the Cabin by noonish (the cabin is a restaurant at the end of 33 right before you get to the gas station at Brandwine) - which means we are looking at getting to the campground at 4 - still light out - with Time to set up - find beer - etc etc... I am all for a better route - but figure at least a 1/3 of the day is going to be getting to and from the area....

Also, if you looks at some of the maps and route - there is basically alternate routes around what could be more serious dirt route for folks.. for Long Run u can continue on hopkins gap - make a right on 33 - and meet us at the cabin... If some folks dont want to to Public Road 44 (Basically from Durbin - to Gladys - to Alpena) - they could continue on 250/219 to Elkins and come E on 33 to Alpena.. This way if folks who wonder about their big trallie bikes there is an alternative..

Not trying to be the route picker - I'm easy (just not cheap) I just want to get out and ride.. I just wanted to make something that could appeal to the max number of people and bikes

Too late - you are hereby anointed... :whip:

now then, the next hard question is when. My wife has a medical appointment next Monday at Johns Hopkins and maybe we'll know then what is going on and I'll have a better idea of if or when I can go.
