Almost all will be trailering there as we'll be on 450 class bikes

Ken, isn`t mandatory for the new guy to do all the options for his/her initiation?

As long as you have decent knobbies I don't see why you couldn't do it on a KLR. Most people here trailer their bikes. Its always a very real possibility to take a spill and damage yourself and/or the bike and then its nice to be able to drive home. Besides several hours on the highway destroys knobbies a little too quickly for me.

It went in about 3 inches, then hit something that felt like a mesh screen, so I'm good.
