Sandblasting > Frame plus some smaller parts

Does anyone know a place or person that can sandblast a couple
things, maybe even a full frame in the Anne Arundel Area (or close)?

I bought an old bike that needs some loving, eventhough this one is
not a dual sport (need faster for o.c. )

With the snow setback i'll be at blasting stage propably first week of march,
that is if it ever stops to snow and i can finally get something done

My auto mech says he knows someone that can do the job. If you post some pictures and let me know what you're looking to spend, I will see if I can hook us up? I need a two piece side cover sand blasted. My auto mech might be a DAMN member? He is one of our regulars on the sumo rides, Gary with the green DRZ Kawasaki. His shop is in Rockville, Md., not sure if that is too far of a hike?

I have a glassbead cabnet at work. I could help you out, i`m pasadena. Don`t think a full frame will fit? I do know a place off Ordnance rd. I think it Baytown painting? What kinda bike? I love project.

sorry for my late reply guys i was busy shoveling snow and stripping the bike down

Its a 87 yamaha fazer, the frame breaks down in two parts, its not huge but bigger than the
sandboxes i saw at harbor freight tools, i still have the engine in the frame other than that
everything is off

there is smaller stuff that needs sanding too (swingarm, pegs, stand, ...)

oh yeah..believe it or not, the toughest part about bringing this bike back
to live is finding one darn needle for the carb

Its been a while, i was quite busy fixing my car but i think my problems are over now, took me three weekends
to change the belts in the parking lot along the pulleys and tensioners...pretty time consuming if you've never
done it but it was worth it

Last weekend i took on the fazer again, i'm now ready to have the frame sandblasted and painted, i used
sandpaper but gave up after 5 hours of intense sanding...if i just had a sandblaster... *lol*

Anyway, if one of you guys has one and want to make some money or knows someone how can
blast it down along some other smaller parts let me know please :)

My main problem with the engine was that it is quite heavy, so i came up with my "engine lift" to
take it out on my own, worked like a charm...and i figured out the engine aint as heavy as i thought
anyway eventhough 4 cyl ;)

Doner for Lift > Nissan Altima Jackstand from Crazyrays, 5 USD
Piece of Wood from Homedepot > 2 USD
1 ton cart from Harborfreight > 15 USD



This jackstand fits just under the cart, it will lift when the jack is raised, but it will go back
down when lowered and holds the engine nicely (nice to just push it around :D .. )

I will be sandblasting some fuel tanks in the next couple of weeks, I could do it then. You will have to prep it and drop it off to me in Rosedale


you need to remove, seal and or cover up any bearing surfaces (steering head), anything like plastic, rubber, any oil tanks or ports

That would be awesome!!

I already removed everything and bought big spacers to coveer the steering head bearing surface area, there are ports
in the frame for cooling liquid, i'm not sure how to cover these, i guess i can squeeze a screw in there with some leather
around it

How much $$ do i calculate for it

no $$$ either way, but I can always use a copier or fax machine

what would you rather have? The Fax Scanner thing or a big Dell Printer aka the treekiller (thats what we used to call them)?

a Fax sounds like the winner but really it dont matter much, if someone else wants it the printer is fine, basically whatever
