For sale is a freshly rebuilt 1985 CR500 motor. DAMN Riders get first shot at it them I'm listing it on the CR500 forum and elsewhere.
This is the second motor I installed in the Wasp - the one that was holed. It has a Kustom Kraft Nikasil cylinder and has been ported. The crank and mains have about 1 hours time on them. The piston is a little loose at .005 (.003 is spec). The stator is dead but the backing plate is good. The motor was completely gone over by Brian Kohl (former owner of Blackhawk Motorsports. If you are interested in talking with him about the motor, PM me and I'll give you his phone number). Brian is an incredible mechanic and I'm impressed with his work and thoroughness on this motor and the original CR500 motor that he also rebuilt for me.
The bad news is that the asshat that sold me the motor didn't tell me about the JB Weld repair job on the cases. The good news is it was a good repair and solid. Pics of the repair at the link below.
I agree with Jr, given that hack's history with engines, you might want a spare for insurance. You know what will happen the next time you run it after you sell the spare engine....

I suggest also putting it up on Craigslist in San Diego and even Ebay (Fleabay). Those desert guys out west love the CR500 and KX500 motors. Service Honda stuff a CR500 motor in a CRF chassis. You might ask these guys if they know anyone who might want it. http://www.servicehonda.com/honda-2010-models/500af
