Looking for DS GPS tracks
Re: Looking for DS GPS tracks
Phil- what's your take on the 300L? The newer models are supposed to have better suspension. Happy with the power?

The front suspension is ok. I have a kit to improve it. But havnt installed yet. The other week at a friend’s trails I did a baby jump and bottomed the front forks.Laoch wrote: Thu Jun 11, 2026 6:04 am Phil- what's your take on the 300L? Depending on your riding, I think the front suspension is fine for most people riding the CRF300l
The rear shock is much worse. For slower, just putting around its ok. But the more offroad you go at even a moderate pace you feel it. I bought a cheaper shock and it was a huge upgrade.
As far as engine power goes, thats a bit more personal. Some people would never be happy with it. But those people probably would never buy one in the first place.
One of the ecu kits from 550 performance is worth the money in my opinion. I also did a full exhaust, cams, and other stuff too.
I liked the quiet stock exhaust but the newest R12 from Yoshimura is relatively quiet, (acceptable at least).
Im pretty happy with the improved power in the mid and upper range. Id kinda like a little more right off the bottom. But maybe Im just spoiled from my other bikes…
We can meet up in Michaux sometime and switch bikes if you want.

You found even better roads than I did! But I had to be careful and avoid anything that looked like either of your pictures, unfortunately. Where were they, especially the one with the water crossing?

The picture where Patrick is on the ground, that was on Howard Rd. Its a deadend road, but kinda fun.
The other picture is just a "spot" right off of 15 Mile Creek Rd pretty close to the highway 68. On a weekend you will often find someone with their truck/suv down there and they are fishing or hanging out. I've stopped there and eaten lunch and/or taken a break if nobody is there while I'm riding. Its not a road, just a short access to the creek
