Forks/Suspension

Post by Bucho »

I have a fork kit for my crf300l. For the past few years Ive used (and been very happy) with Tbone & Earle’s up in Tawney Town MD. However, they are “temporarily closed”.

I dont think this is anything terribly specialized. Probably any shop could do it.

I reached out to Twigg Cycle in Hagerstown (bc they are a Honda dealer). The person who answered the phone is theoretically getting back to me later.

Any recommendations for servicing?

When you say you have a fork kit, are you talking about seals, wipers, and bushings or a valving kit?

The crf300l has budget suspension with only a spring on one side.
This adds a spring to the other.

Well, this is a bummer. "T-Bone & Earl’s Cycle is MOVING!

Our last day at the shop is Saturday, March 28th and our doors will be closing at 1PM.

We know this comes as unexpected news, but we want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your incredible support over the past 35 years. Your loyalty, trust, and friendships have meant everything to us.

We are beyond grateful for the memories, relationships, and community we’ve built together. While this chapter is coming to a close, we’re excited for what’s ahead as we begin the next phase of our journey.

💥🤩STAY TUNED—our new location will be announced asap, and we can’t wait to share what’s next with you!

With love, & heartfelt appreciation,

T-Bone & Earl’s Cycle ❤️"

That sure isn't worded like "we're moving to a new location down the street." :/

Since it sounds like you're just talking about installing a kit and not tuning your suspension, you can probably take it anywhere to be done. I love F&S in Sykesville, and fwiw, they fixed the leaky fork that over $1000 of parts and service at Tbone and Earl's didn't fix. I do (did?) like Tb&E, and Earl really saved my bacon fixing my rear hub with a "temporary fix" that has lasted a few years now, but that fork work where I literally replaced every part of the fork one by one was not great.

There is a place up my way- https://mototechcycles.com/
A little out of your way, I guess.
I've been using him for years.

Yes, one spring. Its their budget way of doing things.
That said, it works fairly well. And I think will suit “most” people who would buy a smallish budget dualsport.

I dropped off my forks at Twigg Cycle this afternoon.
