I missed a call from Joe and got his voicemail saying that they made it to the campground ok and for me to call Ken's wife and let her know too. No other information except that. They apparently have no cell service where they are.
Hopefully they had a good ride down and didn't get too rained on.
DS Camping Trip - aug 22-23rd
Re: DS Camping Trip - aug 22-23rd
Just got back - words to describe the trip - the sign of the beast is 777 - never trust a road shown on the map with with dashed lines - carnage - great friends
more after I take a shower and post some pics

Re: DS Camping Trip - aug 22-23rd
hey guys... wanted to say thanks for the trip! I headed down to yochums to get some cigs. Smoked one and sat around with no one showing up. Headed down the road to try to find Steve and Donnie, which I found in a luxurious cabin which had 5 vacant beds I might add.
I had some things to take care of at home and wanted to venture off on some of the local twisties to the area to attempt to get rid of some funk that still remains in my head over my incident. Not sure why, and it seems pretty stupid and drawn out, but it's there. It helped a lot to venture around and hit a lot of roads I've never considered doing. Not much a big breakfast eater, so I wanted to say sorry for missing you guys there and hope you all had a great remainder of the trip. Look forward to pics from day 2. Can only imagine where Jason led you all
As for the trip out... I know I called Jason at least a zillion different words and phrases that all pretty much mean the same insulting thing, but I do have to say looking back... THANK YOU!
Only 7 more miles..wait 6, nope 7.
Also a huge thanks to accidentalwheelie (whose got a great bunch of stories) for goin' back after drew and Ken (you really gave me a lot of ambition to push on watching you struggle with the klr and helping me out in my times of need). Great group, met a lot of new great people and hope to do it again sometime (well, not quite the sign of the beast ride, but something with you guys and maybe a lighter more off road functional bike (at least with tkc's ...lesson learned).
This started off as single lane paved..then became crushed stone, to a little mud mixed with chunky rock (like hawthbottom rd for those that know, but endless and with a nice cliff on the left), eventually it turned to what you see below

DCL and Accident coming down the trail

Exhausted and not amused Ken
Not sure what jack (in blue) is doin' in the background

Dang - my camera is crapping out on me - the color is wrong in all the pics - but here's some anyway!
The gathering Sat AM

In the orange sweatshirt is Shane. He gets 2 awards for the weekend. The Commitment Award and the Minimalist Award. Commitment because he really wanted to be the most minimalist camper and on the ride to PoR, he set his clothing bag on fire (lay on the exhaust pipe it did), salvaged his charred blanket and hammock and came anyway! Minimalist because that was all he had! What a DAMN guy!

Code and I should have split at this point - the Sign of the Beast was revealed to Joe shortly after

The dashed line one the map was disappearing, the rain was making the mud worse and Me 'n Code had 90/10 tires

More more pics from me until the campground - but you knew where we were once there!

oops...i know where it is
I guess I could've given you a heads up eh? I honestly, completely forgot about that. Everyone made it safe then?
I can see it now, everyone bitching about the route and cussin' me out. Jason probably thought it was a set up for payback
