intothenew from adv actually came up with most of that route back as part of the TWVT. Gotta give credit where credit is due. I've been on some of those roads, not all of them..so I took a lot of his suggestions from that file.

yeh in the morn i was riding up to meet joe and his friends to go to POR, its raining some but i figured i had extra clothes in the dry bag for when we get there :roost: .....NOPE near rte32 on 70 i see embers flying in mirror franticly pull over and stomp flames off all my gear, saved hennesy hammock and a crunchy blanket ...later jaxobsessed confirmed my stompage didnt put the embers all the way out because it was ablaze again when he drove by my remains, anyway caught fire, rode hundreds of miles soaked, slept in a frigid wet hammock but all in GREAT company I had a blast and wouldnt change one thing ,Thanks jason for leading and everyone else who pitched in,777 was the sheeeit!! video editing now should have some up soon

You are my heroes. I am a pitiful sissy wuss. I admit it. Got up 4:30 Saturday, it was sheeting down rain after pounding thunderbumbles all night long. Solid orange blob on the radar all the way from me to Mt. Airy. All suited up to leave at 5:30, opened the garage door, and got to thinking about my wee dim twinkle of a tail light in the pitch dark and downpour all the way around the Baltimore beltway, and I pussied out. Started cussing and stomping around the house mad as an old wet hen. Hour and a half later, a grey light dawned, and the sky eased back into steady light rain. Now I was kicking my pussie ass self all DAMN weekend. What a crybaby wimp. Might as well move to France and eat quiche. Not fit to live with, I was so mad. Should have powered through the black downpour and arrived a drowned rat at POR. After all, chances of getting run down by a truck on the beltway were probably only sixty percent.

As penance, I'm going to retrace your steps from the route you posted here. Alone if need be.

we all thought you were the only one entitled to take a pass - the radar showed you had to ride right through the middle of the storm to get to us.

btw, do yourself a favor and don't follow all of the course posted... particularly the part where it goes around locked gates...

Actually, he can follow the route we did, but instead of going straight at the top where the other road split off right, we should've hung a right where the George Washington National Forest sign was. That would of brought us back down towards 33 "supposedly" and it would've all been "legal".

I wouldn't mind doing the same exact run again next year as an annual thing, but I do think that it may pay to go back to those cabins at some point and see if the people that own them would have any issue with us doing so before hand as a once a year deal and nothing more (which means that we would have to make sure that people do not abuse that privilege and trespass until we're actually allowed). That would probably lighten the load off our backs as far as feeling like we're doing something wrong. At least that way wouldn't hesitate to call for help if needed too :harhar:

^^^^ There seems to be a don't ask, don't tell policy out here. If you act like what you are doing is OK everyone assumes you must have permission, or know some who knows someone, wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

It sounds like you guys had a hell of a ride.
