Who's game? And who's up for helping me figure out how to ride better/faster in deep sand?

You should have came with us to the Pine Barrons, lots of great practice in sand there. You can always do the PB300 too, since they lifted the cc limit.

Kyler and I are planning on going. Neither of us have done a rally before.
Code might come out to watch, (and maybe drive one of us to the hospital or something...).

If you have never done sand then go out to NJ and ride. Like Grady mentioned, the PB300 is coming up in October. Do it. They have alot of fast sand road that will be very similar to the SandBlast. Just remember that the PB300 isn't a race. If you are gonna run 80mph down a sand road, remember there might be some random dually pickup truck coming the opposite way and taking up most of the road. (Ask me how I know this, I had a few big pucker moments from last year's PB300)

Would be all over going and actually racing if I have a bike by then. A lot of my racing next year depends on how fast I get that tax return. That's my new rally bike money. Wouldn't mind going for the weekend down to watch you guys crash, ummmm.. i mean try to finish, ummm... i mean win..yeah win..lol :harhar: Now if I was racing, that would be another thing..you all would see what gold was as it walked by me to the guy that actually finished the race and came in first :lol2:

Let me know when we get closer and I'll definitely consider going down to cheer. Am 85% sure I'm in for the WV rally depending on when and if they have it.

ps. agreed on the pine barrens. Have taken my strom in sand on several occassions and if there is anything I learned by doing that it's the following...
big bikes suck in the sand
big bikes suck in the sand
keep the bike moving steady and no sudden hard movements unless you're wanting to go down or intending on doing something like a sharp turn, etc. and are prep'ed for it.
did I mention, big bikes suck in the sand?

ps. I didn't fall down though :rayof:

I do owe someone a swift kick to the ego please bail me out ride since I got one huh?
 I think the only thing that would've made that day worse would've been to ride bitch home :poser: Which will never happen. I'll walk.

I would have if I wasn't working that weekend, but it was my first days back in a month so I kinda needed the money.

I did hit plenty of sand in Oklahoma, and some deep thick gravel in Arkansas and Mississippi. Course... that had predictable results...

Just once though.

... ok twice, this is when I found out the mountain was actually a foot underneath the ball bearing gravel.

Once I get my October schedule from work I'll know if I can do the PB300, but its likely a no as I really need the money right now. Are the roads otherwise open during the year?

Also... tires are "open", per the rulebook. Anyone mind pointing me in the right direction for a good front and rear tire that will get me through the event? And, if no one is trailering, would allow me to make it down there and back. I didn't mind the D606 rear, but the deathwing front was basically worthless. I rode some sand very briefly when I had a fresh D606 on the front back in July(?), but can't remember what I thought about it.

If all 4 of us end up going, then I'm sure we can work up some kind of driving arrangements, etc. Am hoping to have a trailer by then, if I knew for sure I'd offer to tow, and bring ya'll along for the fee of gas and switchin' up drivers down and back. Will see what's what trailer, etc. wise though. Still have a few months.

As far as I know, some of the roads / trails at the pine barrens are open regardless and then other sections are not. Similar to what they do for the Shendoah 500

Another option...I'm not 100% on though is to call up the md. dnr. I know that sometime soon they will be allowing vehicle access on the beach down in assateague island (the not sure about part would be if that is only open to 4x4 vehicles or 2 wheeled as well). That could pay off.

The Assateague website says
Off road vehicles must be "street legal"(motorcycles and ATV's are not allowed)
http://www.assateagueisland.com/island_ ... travel.htm

What about the Pocomoke ORV trails? What about any other state lands out there, anything unpaved and sandy?

Got the ok from the wife to head down to watch you guys. My bike will probably be ready by then, but I still want to watch one to see how the entire thing works before entering in. Have another guys interested in heading down too, so we'll probably head down thurs. after work and then back sunday afternoon depending on when you guys race. Not sure what you all were planning hotel / camping wise. But as we get closer, let me know and maybe we'll divi up cost some for everyone..if ya want.
