The Husky that I bought has pissed gas out of the cap at a blistering pace since the day I bought it, any time it fell on its side (if you've ridden with me, you know that happens a lot!). So I bought a brand new OEM cap and as I went to put it on, I heard it rattle. I check my old one. No rattle. Huh, weird. I open up the new one thinking maybe it's messed up (it was really, really, *really* hard to take off once put on the tank so I thought it might have had an issue. This was fixed by forcing the button to actuate a few times using something hard to push on it to loosen it up). Anyway, I see a check ball inside the cap for blocking fuel when the bike is on its side. I open up the cap that came with the bike, and *someone had removed the check ball!* I suspect it was the owner before the guy I bought it from, removing the ball because he thought it reduced fuel flow because I think he did a lot of riding in sumo configuration.
Anyway, long story short -- I could have fixed my existing gas cap with a 20 cent ball bearing instead of a $35 replacement cap. Now I just need to take the time to measure my balls and get a replacement to fix the old one and throw it into the "spares box."
