New PA off road park State owned ST

Post by Laoch »

Pennsylvania is opening 20 miles of single-track dirt bike trails at the Catawissa Recreation Area starting July 6.

Seems to be on the old Paragon property. Vicinity of Frackvile/St Clair.

Progress.

I'm happy to hear about more single track. I hope its successful.

For me personally its well beyond a 2 hour drive, which is around my limit for a day trip.

I'd love to hear about it, if someone goes up and rides it.

Catawissa South’s single-track trails will be open sunrise to sunset to dual sport motorcycles. These trails are designated difficult to expert-level and carry a 25 MPH speed limit, unless otherwise noted. Single-cylinder motorcycles under 500cc are highly recommended. All dual-sport motorcycles operating on state forest roads and trails must have valid Pennsylvania registration.

The Master Plan for the Catawissa Recreation Area for the property reveals a proposed total of 108.97 miles of different trails be available included types labeled as loop, stock, moderate, heavily modified, extremely modified and a play area.
The bit about "dual sport motorcycles" coupled with "difficult to expert" and also "25 mph" is a little weird, but I'm optimistic. Especially if there's going to be 109 miles of trails that are well-marked. It's three hours from my house, but if it's a place that has day rates (which it does), that makes it a place to be able to take new people, which is nice. Especially if they're coming from the north.
