Nitrogen charge location
Nitrogen charge location
Just rebuilt my DR650 shock and I can't find a shop that can charge the bladder. The only lead I have so far is in Frederick, but I would like to avoid driving 2 hours for a 1min job. Anyone knows of a place closer to DC?
Re: Nitrogen charge location
You don’t have to have nitrogen. You can use compressed air especially on a dual sport. Nitrogen would be optimal in Mx and other racing situations but good old atmospheric air would suffice for every day trail use. Maybe just pump it up and go ride till you end up near a shop that has nitrogen.

Re: Nitrogen charge location
Is it a shrader valve on that shock? I have the set up to do it if you are near me (Bunker Hill, WV)

If you can get to Montrose Road at I-270 between 7:00am and 4:00pm sometime, I can bring my kit to work and charge your shock.

It's a shrader valve. Thanks for the offer, I'll keep it in mind, but hope to find something closer to DC.gots_a_sol wrote: Tue Jul 16, 2024 7:40 pm Is it a shrader valve on that shock? I have the set up to do it if you are near me (Bunker Hill, WV)

Re: Nitrogen charge location
Some motorcycle shops//dealers do nitrogen fills on tires. For example, Bob's BMW in Jessup, MD has the ability. Not sure how they'd respond to putting a charge on your shocks for you.
Air is 78% nitrogen anyway so I've always been a bit skeptical about the value of a 100% nitrogen fill.

@jgreene Thanks again for helping me out. You made that look easy with your pro setup, very impressive
Re: Nitrogen charge location
I heard it's more about the high moisture in normal air that can cause problems/fluctuations. Either way I won't be able to recharge or rebuild the shock for another couple years, so prefer to play it safe.Twist wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2024 6:15 am Some motorcycle shops//dealers do nitrogen fills on tires.
